Plan for Success

Do you have a plan for today? Do you know what you need to accomplish today? Do you know how to reach your training goals today? Or do you just wing it and just go to the gym do what you feel like and call it “training”. Most of you have probably seen over the years, I always have some sort of notebook with me in the gym. It is my plan for the day.

When I go to the gym to train. I know that I am going to accomplish something, get bigger, stronger and better at my lifts. There is always a reason, a method to the madness. Every month, every week, every training session is planned for accomplishment. I know what I am doing and that's why I am always ready. I leave the gym with that feeling of accomplishment. It may not have been my best training day, but I completed it. It was better than sitting on the couch making excuses.

Instead of excuses, make goals for yourself. Have short term and long term goals—be realistic. Don’t start out with a goal that is so unreachable that it takes your focus off of TODAY! Be dedicated to today. What is the plan today? What am I training today? How can I get better today? What would the perfect version of me do today? One day at a time, one training session at a time, one healthy meal at a time. That is all it takes. There is no secret. There is no magic potion to reach your goals. Just hard work, and relentless determination. Be determined, be COMMITTED to yourself and your goals. Don’t let motivation or a lack of motivation interfere.

Motivation is temporary, and will not last. You will not be motivated every day of every week to push yourself. The days you are tired, sick, or short on time. Those are the days you will not be motivated but you MUST remain dedicated and committed to yourself and your goals! Push yourself and “Will” your body to finish what you started!

I am a big believer in the mind-body connection. I believe that you can “will” your body to do anything. Training is so much in your head. Your goals, your dreams. Do we even consciously think about these things before we train? Should we? ABSOLUTELY! Prepare yourself. Have a plan. Be focused on today. Train hard—TODAY!!!
